One of the most commonly used proximity sensors in this space is the magnetic reed sensor. These devices detect the magnetic field generated by a magnet embedded within the cylinder piston. Typically mounted externally on the piston housing, the sensor activates (on or off) when it approaches or moves away from the internal magnet.
