Air Reservoirs

Air reservoirs are essential in pneumatic systems where controlling airflow and stabilizing pressure variations is required.

How do air reservoirs function?

Air reservoirs help manage pressure instability within pneumatic circuits. Compressed air is introduced into the reservoir via a flow valve, where it is stored until it is needed and released at a predetermined moment.

Applications of air reservoirs

Reservoirs release air to stabilize pressure within the system. Common uses include:

  • Acting as a pressure accumulator during sudden pressure drops
  • Creating extended time delays in coordination with flow control or time delay valves
  • Forming a controlled system with a first-order delay response
  • Producing static pressure when used with a one-way flow control valve

To protect equipment downstream from pressure spikes or enhance actuator force, a combination with a pressure regulator can be employed.
